Steve at Adventure Moto Australia has sorted me out a CPW oil cooler, which finally arrived.

I'll do an update soon with the install, but it's a super nice piece of kit, much superior to the HT racing job.

The decision that remains is whether to split the cases and single-sump the engines. We should make a decision on that Monday, on one hand I'm nervous about making any changes, on the other it eliminates a failure mode (pumping the oil from the engine side to the tranny) with not much risk.

This is one of the parts I like best. We're using webbing river straps with an aluminum buckle, that go through the vent in the tank and through a slot in the fairing.

Fancy stuff like Dzus fasteners work for a while, but inevitably, as stuff shakes and gets bent and suffers the indignities of rally use, they stop aligning as nicely as they once did. River straps can accomodate whatever chaos befalls the setup and continue to work just as well.

Hey Ned,

While I'm sure you have plenty (understatement) of experience with these engines (and may have made your decision by now anyway), I just finished the Australasian Safari (approx 3800kms in 7 days) on my 09 530 with no oil transfer issues.

For reference, the bike ran at 152 km/h wfo for fence line runs of over 4km in length more often than I care to admit and the (stock) bottom end had done 145 hrs by the end of the event ( which inculdes 3 previous 2 day rallyes).

Fair to say I'll by buying another 530 - every new model engine KTM in the event went bang...
