I'll do an update soon with the install, but it's a super nice piece of kit, much superior to the HT racing job. The decision that remains is whether to split the cases and single-sump the engines. We should make a decision on that Monday, on one hand I'm nervous about making any changes, on the other it eliminates a failure mode (pumping the oil from the engine side to the tranny) with not much risk.

Fancy stuff like Dzus fasteners work for a while, but inevitably, as stuff shakes and gets bent and suffers the indignities of rally use, they stop aligning as nicely as they once did. River straps can accomodate whatever chaos befalls the setup and continue to work just as well.

I don't know about the cases, maybe KTM answered that question for you with the new 2012's.

Any frequent travelers out there?
The time has come to get a plane ticket. An idea I have is that if someone out there has miles to get a ticket to SA, and wants to trade them for either gear or dollars, we can probably make something work to both of our benefit. If you're interested, drop me a line: dakar at neduro dot com. Thanks!

Hey Ned!
![]() I got my Shirt and Stickers early this week. I've been wearing the T-shirt it every day. My co-workers are going to ask me to wash it soon. But I won't until they give me money to do so. Once I get the cash, I'll send it to you. ![]() Cool idea huh. Sort of like olfactory blackmail. Enjoy the Victory Beer. Three months and counting.... Q~

While I'm sure you have plenty (understatement) of experience with these engines (and may have made your decision by now anyway), I just finished the Australasian Safari (approx 3800kms in 7 days) on my 09 530 with no oil transfer issues. For reference, the bike ran at 152 km/h wfo for fence line runs of over 4km in length more often than I care to admit and the (stock) bottom end had done 145 hrs by the end of the event ( which inculdes 3 previous 2 day rallyes). Fair to say I'll by buying another 530 - every new model engine KTM in the event went bang... Hope this input is of some use. Good luck.
