An impressive accomplishment in both preparation and execution. Of course, you got to ride a light little enduro bike. You didn't have to drag a 400lb real rally bike through thousands of kilometers of dunes and fesh fesh. I think you had actually seen a rally bike or two before you entered the event. But I'm sure you had your challenges. You didn't have to ride through a minefield at night, and nobody threatened to shoot at you. Your assistance crew was well rested, had access to phone, internet, and towns with stores, and didn't have to spend precious time working on the truck. Gosh it seemed difficult, though. I think you even got chairs to sit on when you ate. You probably didn't encounter malaria-infested mosquitos and didn't have to spend a night in the dunes due to an ASO mistake. But it looked really really tough anyway.

Good job! Welcome to a very small group who know what you've been through.

fun fun

Ned, I to all Dakar finishers, particularly you. Awesome achievement! You made it look easy, but we know otherwise. Thanks for giving us the inside story.

Congratulations Ned!!!
This is only my second 'F5 Dakar' and was one of the best motor sport racing experiences I've had.

Ned - you're a hero for taking the risk to follow a dream and seeing it through so beautifully!

Ned's friends - thanks for you help with bike prep, training rides and the friendships that mean so much to him.

F5 Crew - continues to amaze just how 'real' the Dakar experience can be behind a keyboard. Thanks to all of you for your contributions, antidotes, humor and support for Ned's effort.

Cheers from Chico, Ca!

Congratulations Ned. You had a dream and made it real.

Many helped, but it was your ability to stay focused from the beginning and ride your plan that made your dream come true.
The fact that you made it look easy, when so many others had problems, speaks volumes about your preparation and the ability to keep your eye on the end goal.

BTW, what are you doing tomorrow Ned? Wanna "throw a leg over" and go knock off 300-400kms of sand riding?
Yeah, I didn't think so!

Enjoy your R & R ......... you sure as hell earned it!

Super awesome. You are one really incredible human being. You planned the ride and kept to it. You finished and are still intact. Can't wait for the book to come out.
