About the Mefo Mousse, I was talking to Jason at MX1West last week (your link above) about this... but what do you think about using them at highway speeds on pavement for general dual sport purposes on a 400 lb total bike (including gear)? Obviously you did this on a lighter bike for what you said is half of 5000 miles, but I know they aren't designed for this necessarily. Would heat be the main issue? What is their failure mechanism, could it cause a crash like a blown tube (I'm assuming not). I think Americans are not used to mousse and I've never researched them, and obviously this could be a thread of its own, but would love to hear your thoughts.

According to inmate "fastjarl" - also a 690RR owner - there's no problem using bib mousse for multiple-days adventure riding - as long as it's properly well-lubed with correct paste. I'm speaking non-competitive speeds here, of course. Just dual-sporting on public roads.

Mousse
I have about 2500 miles on my rear MEFO mousse. That's on my 525 rally bike in a Maxxis Desert. It's still going. Third or fourth tire mounted on same mousse.
Usage: * 500 miles, 50% paved highway, 107F ambient, instructing at Rally School at Death Valley area * 1200 miles, 10% pavement, much dirt @ 80 mph, Kings of the West rally * 900 miles, 35% paved highway, Death Valley dual sport trip So, take that, plus the fact that daily routes in Dakar are 450 miles, 50% pavement, all at high speeds. Front mousses last the same, plus then I move them to my trail bike and use them for an entire additional season. As Ned said, MEFO mousse are far superior in our testing. And they come in lots of sizes for even better fit in non-Michelin tires. What are you waiting for? Just try it. You'll like it. Dave
