Yep I read that in previous post or on blog...forgot which cause they are all starting to run together with all the F5ing.
My question was more toward the procedure... have pre-jetted carbs to exchange or pull and install jets in carb on the bike in the evening at Bivvy.

Fun fun today. Give em...Ned, Bill, Jonah and let's not forget about the "Embro".

Switching from F5

Ned - Another member of the fan club.

Following along for the last month has been great. I plan on being in the bivouac in Nasca to cheer you on in person so you better be there!

Best of luck Ned! Just watched Eurosport's Roadbook last night. Looks like you've got a wee bit of sand ahead of ya...

Pretty amazing sensation yesterday to walk through parc ferme with the realization that all the adminstrivia is over, that i'm going racing in the dakar. This has been a dream for years and years and to realize it is, well, pretty damn cool.

It's been overwhelming trying to deal with all the requirements the last few days, i'm doing a worse job of reporting than i hoped but there's only so many brain cells i have to rub together. Every day, i'll be calling rally raidio (is the first call from two days ago up yet?) and filing a report with motorcyclist and dirt rider, be sure to check 'em out over there.

Now for the easy part. Can't wait to bring you along.
go ned!

So grateful, BTW, to be able to know what's going on! We moms like to stay in the loop!!!!!
Having Ned's family posting in this thread doubles the thread's awesomeness!

Maybe you guys (Ned's family members) already know this, but when the racing starts don't get too stressed when the Dakar website shows that Ned hasn't reached a given waypoint yet. Yes, it may be that he crashed or broke down, but it seems that usually it is some other complication like a glitch in the system that tracks the riders.

We'll all get tense, start a slow clap ( ) to will the universe to get him to the next point, but more often than not everything is fine (thereby demonstrating the efficacy of the slow clap). Maybe those moments are when a glass of Layer Cake will be the most helpful.

Ned seems like a great guy, and I blame his family for that.

What is fabulous is how welcome I feel here, non-biker that I am . . .

Thanks for the heads up on "no news." Although I hate wondering, I've had lots of practice with the "no news is good news" strategy, through many adventures first with Ned's dad, then with The Boy himself. It helps, too, to feel the community behind his effort, and to sense the camaraderie of the larger cycling community. This isn't just about miles and sand . . .

And yes, Ned is a great guy!!!!! (Not that I'm biased . . .)

Thanks, all - I'm F5ing right along with all of you!

Hey Gwen, It's Terry McCormack from Denver. I always love it when you pop into the big race threads, it's neat to see your perspective on some of this stuff.

Take care and I'll see you out here at one of the post race gatherings!
