>"Next question...we would like to avoid the "farmers"; are we good staying on the roads such as Lighthouse and King's Peak and other established roads in the area, and also for hiking established trails in King Range Nat. area?"

Well travelled 'through' roads shouldn't be any problem. Most farms are behind locked gates, or way off on side roads. Indoor growing is changing 'farming' too. Hiking trails are ok... however, see next section.

>"Next question....weather....it was fabulous in mid-August! Anybody care to hazard a guess as to how it might be in mid-May?"

Mid May... heh. Might have nice weather, or it might be crappy. May is kind of the 'tail end' of rainy season, this year our spring was rotten... next year... who knows! I guess typically you might have 4-7 days nice and 2-3 days rain.

Camping. Rode by the camps last saturday.

Chemise mtn road has a campground on the north end... didn't see much activity there. There is also a campground on Kings Peak road, north from Shelter Cove road, there might have been a couple people in there last weekend, didn't look crowded. Hum County park, AW Way, I looked in but didn't see lots of people, Lighthouse beach, didn't go down in there. Honeydew Creek had 2 occupied sides... I think there are 6 sites. Then there are RV sites and motels in Shelter Cove.

I'd guess that in May, campsites will be open... it is a bit early.

Thumb Thanks!

Thanks, K.L. Rocket and Twilight Zone, for the very useful information. We should be OK; have no desire to go poking around were we don't belong.......Yeah, I thought that might be the case with the weather that early in the season. Hopefully we can arrange things at home so we can go in late August again. Thanks for campground info....we plan on Shelter Cove for a few days, then some of the smaller camps northward for another few....can't wait to go back

Bummer. Heroin poppies, serious shit. Sounds like the killer was a bit out of balance. Hope they find him.

Holy cow. Probably a double-killer nut loose in the woods with a rifle.
If he's out there and well-prepared, they might not be able to find him.

Way dangerous.

I would bet he is in custody before the end of the week. The North Coast LEO's know their way around and they can be very persuasive relative to getting info.

If they were smart...

Every MJ grower in he Lost Coast would be doing something to get this guy turned in or dead. The last thing they'd want is more publicity or government looking around.

Do you know how far away Fort Bragg is from the Lost Coast on foot?

There is still the unsolved case of the two teens murdered on a beach while they slept. Does that mean we shouldn't sleep on a beach?

Go for a ride, you'll get hassled by law enforcement long before some guy with a rifle tries to shoot you.

I think the only way you'll find trouble up there is if you go looking for it. Kinda like Mexico, don't be an ass and don't poke your nose where it doesn't belong, don't trespass.

I'm not telling anyone else what to do.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll also make sure to stay out of his area for now.

Exactly. If I could blow some gas money, I'd do a roadie up to Humbolt County right now.
