Question about a title bond??

I am looking at buying a 1975 Honda CB360T that is a "barn" find. It was my 1st bike (not the actual one). Thought it would be fun to rebuild/restore it.

There is no title on the bike. I called my DMV with the vin and it came back not in the system. I feel confident it is not stolen or a shady deal. I was told by DMV i have to get a bond the bike in order to get a new title for it. Anybody here understand this bond thing? Explain please.

TIA

I had to get a Bonded Title for a CT-90.

Call your agent that carries your vehicle insurance and tell them what you need. They know exactly how to do the paperwork. They've done it before for someone else. The DVM will tell you what amount the bond needs to be.

In my case, I needed a Bonded Title in the amount of $1000. It cost me a few bucks, not the $1000.

There is always the Vermont option: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655441

It worked for me, $89 for Vermont transferable registration that I took into the AZ DMV and walked out with AZ title and tags.

Well it turns out it's easier and less expensive than I thought it's gonna cost me $100.00 to do it.

Yea, we are a little bit "luckier" than some states. At least we have an established process that isn't too expensive. The bond thing is just in case someone comes forward with proof that the vehicle is actually theirs. They will get the money that the bond secured. I am restoring a military vehicle. It's original govt paperwork is loooong gone. I will have to do the bond thing with it and have a dmv inspector check it out before they will issue a title for it.
