AZ, River Run II, April 27,28...

Let me start by saying it's suppose to be 3 days ride but because of me (my engine's suspicious noise) we had to cut it to 2 days instead. Thanks for AZ Tom for putting this together and organize every bit of it for the second time. The ride basically cover every type of terrains u can possibly imagine. from Black Top to deep sand washes to rocky trails. Rider at start up were, AZ Tom on 230Honda, Viper05 on 530EXC-R, Sandwash on DR650, DR650SEddy on DRZ440, and special appearance for start up our ride were: Bronco Drive (ED) on XR650, John on Yama250. We took off from Tom's Place in Prescott ~ 8:30am, getting ready in Tom's garage.

Ready to roll.

Last inspection.

Ed leading on CampWood rd.

John not far behind.

Sandwash.

Ghost rider.

AZ Tom.

We spilt in Bagdad, Ed and John slapped it home we continue on Burro Creek to Upper Trout Creek. Viper05 near Clay Hill.

Cruising uphill on Clay Mtn.

Up on some elevation...

SandWash moving that DR650 uphill.

530's Viper05 is too fast for me .

Quick break on the Sycamore Creek turn out.

More coming up...

Looking west from up top Sycamore Creek.

Ready for another stage...

At Sycamore turn from Clay Hill Tom felt little sick, so we had to stop to take a break and decide what's next.

Nice sceneries from up top.

This pit stop is getting longer but it's all good as long as the leader get better and ready to roll again. After all it's no fun without AZ Tom.

Good news, Tom is up and going strong. Ready to move to the next rocky section (that's what I live for)...

AZ Tom on the move we were still climbing up the mtn.

Vipero5, that road in the back round is where we came from.

Can't get enough of rocks that was a section of about 8 miles like that or worse.

I love it.

SandWash finding a line uphill.

Next is Viper.

More later on...

By the way the route for day1 goes from Prescott AZ to Laughlin NV, by the time we get to Laughlin I was so hungry all I can thing of is the "all u can eat buffet" at the Colorado Belle. So I forgot to click more pix. Tom Took some though,

Me and Vipero5 went to get dinner at the buffet and I was out ~10pm (no time to call hooker hotline), AZ Tom and Sam went to the specialty restau.
Next day (Monday the 28th) we got up and ready to roll at 8am. I mention to Tom & Tom (Viper05) that I am sensing some weird noise from my engine between 35 & 45 mph, similar to the one that caused my crankshaft failure few month before on the same exact trip. AZ Tom Suggested if that noise persist we might have to divert the route. I felt bad cause I can find my way back, add on to that Viper also recommend the use of hi-octane gas plus octane booster. That actually helped reduce the noise by like 30%. and it does it when engine is hot (or hot weather). So the guys voted to go to day3 and skip day2 because of the sand trail that we're about to cross might actually put more stress on my engine, I did wanted the guys to continue without me I felt really bad. ... I really wanted to do this for 42 miles...

Day 2 we started from Needles CA, down on 95 took the trail parallel to Lake Havasu rd. After that it was the best 27 miles of switchbacks trail I have ever ridden. https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=U...p=2&sz=18&z=13
It's was like a roller coaster, with a twist but if u twist the throttle more than u should it could be the last time you'll twist it ...
the Viper salute...

and then he went to salute the bushes ;-)

Viper covering evidence of UFO in the sky on the top right corner...

The Leader is leading...

Climbing up the Trail end Camp Road.

Still climbing... The Colorado river in the back round.

Now I am diving to the wash. Sam on the other side of the mtn if u can spot him.

More coming up...

On the way to Parker we meet LEO of San Bernardino Sheriff depart. we chat with him while taking a break and we made sure to hide our license plates just in case one of them were to be expired ...

From Parker we gas up, snack break and off to Alamo rd to Hwy 93.
AZ Tom. On Alamo access Rd.

Sandwash and Vipr05 checking infos near power line Rd.

From there it was a long fast dirt Rd to 93 were we slap it to Prescott back to our Trucks. I again want to thank AZ TOM for his effort of putting this ride plan together . Also, special Thanks to Viper05 on the technical advices regarding my engine's issues.
It's now a quest to finish those 3 days all together (at least for me). Third time the charm ??

Great report Eddy at least you did not need your AAA card.

The Pic above is at Midway... the Parker 400 pits there. A really bustling place on race days.

More sand on the powerline road between Midway & Alamo Rd than the last time I was on it, maybe 10 months ago, have they been hauling in & spreading sand in that area?
