Nice work Lycan - have been messing around with some prototype sandwich ideas (no hardware required) to work with the Touratech pannier racks and this has sparked a few thoughts about how to improve.

Here's a dumb question - talked to the dealer the other day about why we get only Kolpin in Canada and no Rotopax. Answer was that the Rotopax are not approved for sale here. Anyone else heard that?

I have never heard that about Rotopax, and I am sure there are several dealers in Calgary, including Blackfoot that will order them in for you. Kolpin has less options but is cheaper. I paid just under $50.00 for my Kolpin (5.68L) including the hardware to mount it. Available at the Canadian Tire just west of 64th and Deerfoot. They are the only one in the city that stocks them. Three guys that I know have all bought them there.

Thanks much. Only reason I would go Rotopax is the taller rectangular profile which looks like it would tuck in out of the wind on the back of my TT paniers - the Kolpin looks more square unless they're running some other profiles I haven't seen. As for the mounts, they look similar quality/design with either brand. Cheers.

I was also thinking about buiding a "sandwich" but did not had the idea to use the interior of the panier holder !
The only bad side is the welding... but the part is so simple when done... I steal too !
( will need a cross, because I have Touiratech panier)

Just finishing this. Ignore my ugly welds , it worked out pretty well otherwise. Hopefully will look better after going to the powder-coater.

The 2 small tabs (1/8" plate) welded to the racks are not noticeable when not being used.
The 1/4" x 3/4" steel bar can stay in place without interfering with the caribou cases
and of course the Rotopax mount can easily be attached with 2 mounting screws.

The way it looks is not perfect (hand made) but I'm very happy!
