It is worse in Cape Town. They ride up and down the road here at Camps Bay reving their engines and making noise. Sitting at one of the outdoor cafes you will see the same bike go by 5 or 6 times an hour.

We saw some trailer through a small town, offload and ride back in as if they had spent the day on the road

Any serious dirt bikers here? I am new to the area and will probably be buying a ktm 300 or 250 soon, looking for some info on local riding areas, off-road racing (Enduros,MX) and people to ride with.

Not in Cape Town.
There is a strong CT based enduro forum http://www.cape-enduro.co.za/ thats your best bet.
If you come to JHB I can show you around some of the more gnarly stuff.
