NE Iowa Gravel tracks B
The B route is 153 miles of wandering back roads that can be navigated with all sizes of bikes. This route is always interesting and can be ridden at a quicker pace most of the time. These roads get little use, so are very smooth. There are many places where there is limited visibility so keep to the outside of corners in case there may be an oncoming vehicle. Most of the time you will only see the mail man/women. This route leaves and returns from West Union. This can be ridden in 7 hours. This is the first of 4 NE Iowa routes worked up this summer.

Thanks for putting this together! It looks like a great ride. I notice it bumps up against 2whlrcr's track which is excellent as the two combined could be a great weekend ride.
Green (this ride). Cyan (2whlrcr's track).

Thank you sir. I follow your routes too! You have some great reports and rides. Thanks for sharing. I want to lay out these and see how they interact with the Trans Iowa Trail. I might enlarge it and do it again in the fall.

Edit: On 2whlrcr's tracks...
The tracks heading west from Bellevue in two places are closed. The first is within 5 miles of Rt52. There's a bridge washed out... you'll need to reroute from the town of Bellevue out on Mill Creek Rd. The second is off Sieverding Ridge road... that's as far as I got before my clutch cable snapped. The damage from the recent flooding was bad when I was there... |
