and sometimes, you just want to take a break

and for stuff all....

the parking's even better

Not bad for $9, eh?

But if you want to camp out in that town, Boten, just inside Laos, on the Chinese border... there's plenty of options. I'd just ridden through the ground floor of this abandoned, unfinished building. The town is pretty much deserted.

If you call ahead and ask nicely, your friends will usually set your tent up for you

All you have to do is sleep with your feet facing downhill so the blood doesn't rush to your head.

BigFella,

You made me envious, disgusted, amazed, and wanderlustful (made it up) in a few photos. Thanks.

Hey, I stay there about once a month. I don't know where the motorcycle parking is, but the garage transit is pretty harrowing!

Hahahahaha.

That would be the most miserable sleep ever.

Try and Valet the bike and they'll show it to you!

Yeah, this one's a bit of a fail

Death Highway, Cambodia - running late because I'd dropped the bike and the battery clagged out due to a buggered (aftermarket) stator. Riding with a guy who is totally night blind.... so when the light went, we stopped.

I dropped my groundsheet right into some lawyer cane (nasty spikes... grab you and won't let go). No tent. No sleeping mat.

That was it.... on the ground, next to a creek we couldn't use the water from (we'd just passed a mine). A handful of stale rice for dinner.
