Well, it got pretty late last night and so I was done for the day but the phone was prompting me to do another update!
Just ran it and now my phone is different again!
Kinda excited about the changes but not sure what I am going to find.
Anyway, now my Android version is 4.1.2 which is Jelly Bean!
Seems the icecream sandwich melted....

Thanks for all your help, I really do appreciate it

Recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note2

Was getting all the email, Facebook, message notifications etc, accompanied by the blue LED, then all of a sudden these stopped coming up. I don't think I switched these off......how do I get them up again? You may realise I am not clued up with these things at all.

Its very possible the apps updated and your notifications changed.

There are general notifications on the phone, but also each app has its own notifications settings that you can set.

First place I would check is from the home screen choose menu -> settings
Go into Sound and see what your choices are. You can set notification ring towns and vibration, etc.
Next go back one menu into display settings and in there you should find an LED notification checkbox among other settings depending on your phone.

So once you verify those are correct, then go into each of the apps you mention and choose settings and each of those should have their own unique settings you can setup for notifications.

Let us know if that helps you.

Probably just a "don't know what the hell I'm doing thing". I will do as advised by BlueLightening and see what happens.

Well its been two weeks since I sorted my Galaxy S2 out with three updates.
Its now at 4.1.2 - Jellybean and is better.
Still havent got a calandar or contacts or anything worked out but I havent put much effert in to making it work out yet so I can't complain.

Took me a while to sort out settings and change the keypad to how I like it and stuff, but when I get the inclination I do some tinkering.

Its pretty good, still need to tidy some stuff around but it feels better.
The 'What would you like to do' seems to have gone, at least, I havent made it activate the way it was doing before.

There is a google version there I think but leaving that well alone!

thats all for the moment,
thanks

My wife and I both upgraded to the Galaxy Note II's last week. I wasn't sure about such a big phone, but I'm loving the 5.5" screen now and find myself doing so much more stuff on it. The battery life is phenomenal on it too! I tend to reach for it over my tablet now. My work phone (Galaxy Stellar) feels so small now when ever I have to use it.

My wife went from a Droid Pro with a tiny screen and tiny keyboard to the Note II, so for her, it was a huge change, but she's loving it too.

I got a Samsung Captivate Glide 2. Love it.

Though it seems like it's been slowing down lately. Any ways to speed it up? I reset it daily, and I always clear out the old photos and text messages..

My friend just got the S4, 2 generations back we already had extremely fast and smooth Android (like my Droid 4 on Jelly Bean) so normal usage wasn't too different and he wasn't using any power apps. But that screen is

So is eveyone running Samsung Galaxy Sxxx or is anyone running any of the newer driods?

I have an old HTC Thunderbolt, and I know two things, its getting long in tooth its struggling with android 4.0.4, and that I like the MotoDroid's UI better than HTC Sense.

So it upgrade time for me anyway (yeah I still have one of those) and I can get any of the flagship phones for $150

If you have your main gmail account setup on your phone and tell your phone to sync that and all the other parts like calendar, contacts, events, whatever, it handles all that without issue and they are automatically backed up.
