I found this 1 gallon gas can in Montana on a different trip. It just happend to fit perfectly on top of the passenger foot rest. (notice the V shape in one end). It's made by Blitz. I use a bungee cord to secure it. After 11.000 Km it never came loose, not even once!

You might want to correct the link to the Alaska report though ... it is pointing to "Cold Start Stalling" problems in Orange Crush.

Baja

Thanks for the pics Baja! Nice Bike. I went with the stock luggage also. It looks really nice and I like the fact that when the bags are removed, the bike has a clean look, not hiding the exhaust. I know that's a trade off because most luggage mounts act as crash protection, but that also equals extra weight when having a little fun off road fun. I just hope it don't leak.

I spent a few days riding in the rain and the panniers were bone dry inside

Are you cooking food on the motor? Or is that a chain oiler?

Wow Rob .....Good eye! That is a water can I keep to make tee or coffee (specially on cold days it's nice to have something hot to drink available all the time) or wash myself at the end of the day if there are no showers or facilities around. It gets hot enough that I have to be carefull not to burn myself. The size of the aluminum can is perfect and does not damage the radiator or any other part of the bike.
You might be able to see it better in this picture; also note the machete I have on top of the gas can. Very very handy for camping and for protection.
