Hi Lion, I'm just wondering where you got that bar mounted black case from shown in your photo? Is that designed to be bar-mounted there or is this your DIY job? I actually have the same bike and love the idea of having a small accessible waterproof box up front like this. Either way, please send me the details!

Cheers,
Tom

Hey Tom

It's an Otter box and it is a DIY job. It is a multi step process.

It is not screwed to the bike. It rests on top of the recess of the four bolts that attach your handlebars to the triples. Zipties press the box into the recess of these four bolts. It doesn't move, because four small screws match the recess of the four bolts in the handlebar.

I made a small plywood platform (1/8 of an inch width), the same size as the box, as the platform with the four small screws sitting on top of the four recesses. The plywood is then sandwiched by the Otter box and pressed down by two zip ties going through another set of four holes. From inside the box all the way down to the handlebars.

I believe zipties are better than duct tape, in my opinion, as the top rigging tool in my tool box. Followed closely by velcro. Duct tape is number 3.

I know I'm not explaining this well.

I can picture it perfectly in my mind. But maybe that's because I mounted this storage bin to my DR the same way.

That VStrom looks pretty clean. However, I sold my VStrom to get a Tiger, and I'm not going back. Good luck with the sale though.
