Got in after 2 days of waiting. This is my second time. I have to say this is the most scenic and enjoyable DS rides I've ever done.
See you there! ![]()

Jack Penton to Ride Shenandoah 500
Word-on-the-street, Jack Penton, AMA Hall-of-Famer, and AMA Director of Operations, will ride this year's Shenandoah 500.
Swing by the pavilion at Natural Chimneys County Park (ride headquarters) Saturday evening, October 1, and hear his presentation (proposed topics, Special AMA Membership Benefits; "The KTM Story").. Rick Podliska, AMA Washington Representative, may visit the event also. Didn't make the cut for the ride? You're welcome to attend the presentation, anyway! |

going to be mine and the wifes second time doing it. We did it in 2009, the first half of both days. First day my bike started leaking oil out of a JB weld reapir so had to bail at launch. Second day my wife had a minor fall but twisted her foot so we headed back after launch too. Shes on a klx 250 and i am on a xr650 L. A friends wife is also going for the first time on a DR 200. My brother might ride with his wife or kid on the back of his drz 400. It should be fun.

Seems to be quite a few "newer" riders this year. Just want to let you all know that on Sunday there is a ride with a couple of us women and someone leading us to make sure we get through everything and taking charge of the roll chart. If any of you would like to join us please let me know by PM and we'll coordinate. It was originally just me, a friend, and her dad but we'd like to open it up to anyone else that wants to join us.
On Saturday we can plan the same type of group if anyone wants to organize one with me... PM me. I rode the entire course last year (no hero sections) and couldn't have enjoyed it more. It was my first year and I plan to ride the S500 as many years to come as possible. It would be extra nice to meet more women who are in or are joining the sport! Let's group up if we can

I am doing both days. Well, at least I plan on doing both days if I don't suck at it. I plan on getting there late afternoon on Friday to set up camp and do tech inspection.

I am not sure if anyone has found these MVUM maps from USDA very useful? They don't seem to be all that detailed but they are free and printable on a standard home printer.
http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fs...l&pname=George Washington & Jefferson National Forests- Maps & Publications If anyoen can recommend a good emergency map for the tank bag as well, that would be great.
