Black Dog Rally 2011

I just got back from the Black Dog Rally and had to through a post up. This was the best Rally I have ever been to. Kurt and Martha set up some great routes. There was plenty of technical stuff to keep us on our toes. About 47 riders showed up for the weekend. Saturday nights pig roast was fantastic. The location north of Sandpoint was awesome. Kurt and Martha opened up their home and property and let us all camp along the river. We had 5 routes to choose from so it was never crowded on any of them. Other than a few flats we had one guy take out his crank case on his 990 ( he did not have Kurts sidestand relocation kit on) I was one of the lucky guys with a flat. Black Dog Cycle Works puts on one hell of a good time. Great way to learn North Idaho and Montana back country.

Rub it in.
Really Bummed I couldn't make it.
I met Kurt at the PNW Rally last month. Great guy, and great products.
I will definitely put the Black Dog Rally on my calendar for 2012.

The name "Black Dog Rally" ha been used for 20 years by Tom in Hood River. It is an AMA event. This is some new event and Kurt should change the name of his event

Not exactly, Black Dog Cycle Works Rally vs Black Dog Dualsport.

I don't think Kurt is going to change the name of his company. ;-)

I think the rally is called the Selkirks Adventure Rally, as opposed to Black Dog, the name of the company,

Yes, that was a fun event, and if Martha is willing to let the hooligans back to their wonderful place, I will do it again. First class. The people were great, the riding was great, the food was great, and the beer was great! And they also had Pendleton, which I had to sample...

Got me wanting to do more of these. Thanks

I love the view from Baldy Mountain. We tried earlier this year, there was still too much snow. Did you guys head west, over Gisborn (the big, open ridge), to the lookout tower? Another nice ride in the area. That ride to Baldy is a rocky SOB.

It was rocky! Fun though. That day we rode around Priest Lake. Maybe next time.

How was the ride around Priest? My wife and I are loading the camping gear on the bikes and heading around Priest over Labor Day weekend.

That'll be good with the wife. She's new to this sport. Heck, I am too, just not as new.

I give guys on big bikes a lot of credit for doing that road up to Baldy!

My second year at this event and was a great as the first one was. I was on the TE610 and inthe pop-up camper parked off to the side. Did Troy-Canuck Pass day 1 and Baldy-Priest Lake Day 2.
