I had looked at generators last year, and decided I would wait till we move next year and put in a whole house setup there. This thread being rebooted has me rethinking that and now I count on picking up an E2000i as soon as I find one for a good deal. I'll start browsing craigslist around me and hope we have a mild start to the winter.

Thanks all.

I can't find it at the moment, but I thought I saw someplace that offered up portable fuel cells that acted like gasoline powered generators. 3x the price and nearly silent.

I bought the Yamaha online for 900 shipped. Could have had the Honda for the same money, but I like blue. Also, the EPA rates the Yamaha @ 500hrs. before wear, while the Honda is 250hrs. Yamaha comes with a fuel shut off, fuel gage and a set of charging cables . Only time will tell if it holds up to my buddies Hondas, but I'm happy so far...

I had a hard time passing up 2 stackable Champions with parallel cord for the same price!

I was looking for a suitcase generator for my sailboat a while back and there is another thread bouncing around in the back of beyond that I started for advice.

Since its on the boat I went for low noise which meant Honda vs Yamaha, all the Chinese variants are louder. Also I decided on 2000VA vs the 1000 as the weight was still manageable with one hand and the extra output could run the water heater or the microwave at the same time as topping up the batteries.

I went with Yamaha over Honda as the fuel filler has a wider neck, there is a fuel tap and a (inaccurate) guage.

EF2000i less than a grand, starts every time, first time and oil change is easy, very easy.

Not necessarily.

We have an EU3000is also. It weighs about 140 lbs so it will take two to steal. It has a 3.4 gallon internal tank. It's even quieter than the EU2000i. Comes stock with a 30A plug. It's 2800W continuous versus 1800 each for the EU2000i.

was patient scoring my two EU2000i ... found them on craiglist for $550 and $500. one was in like new condition, other had a few hours. but both have run flawlessly.

EU2000 typically will go for $700 range used. when they pop up for $550 range, it lasts about 5 minutes.

EU2000 is more versatile than EU3000. both run whisper quiet. but no way you can lug around EU3000 casually at 150lb with fuel vs EU2000 weight 53lb full of fuel.

EU2000 sip less fuel, but puts out less watts. but it's amazing how I was able to run 3 freezers and one full size refrigerator on one EU2000.

one EU2000 also supports my 5,000btu air conditioner. I've got the parallel kit and a second EU2000 but have never needed it.

One gas tank vs two, one battery to start vs two, heavier (takes two to steel) one oil change vs two.....I'm good with one generator vs two, thanks. Not saying that there isn't a place for two gens, but I will stick with one.

If I saw one FS for $550 I'd be checking the chain of ownership before I bought it.....

both came with original original owner manual and paperwork from Honda dealership.
believe it or not... EU2000 have come up on craigslist for $550 range regularly

what's so unusual to find used items for $550 that sold for $850 new?
