I walked off and left my '04 FJR1300 on Wolf Creek Pass (Colorado) in June a couple years ago! Went back for it after the blizzard quit. But before I could park it I dropped it at 2 mph twice, once turning it around and once walking it to a pullout.

Hey McRuss, thanks for following along and posting-up! :-)

Fully understand how easy it could be to drop an FJR in the snow. Mine didn't go down that day in eastern California, but it was close. I had to sidetrack over into Nevada to get around the storm, leaving all the cars and trucks that were chaining-up in the dust, so to speak. I figgered I had about two minutes to grab photos before I'd be stuck in Lee Vining for the night:

Excellent! Congrats on the upcoming retirement. Looking forward to your pix, and maybe getting a chance to visit in person someday.

Best,
Ferris
Yes on LEO. We carry S&W M&P .40's

Retirement can't get here fast enough as far as I'm concerned. I wish it was before the DNC, (Do Not Come). None of us are looking forward to that... I'll be on one of the Suzuki DRZ400s dual sport (police) motorcycles for 12 hour days, for about 10 days. Looking forward to some serious time off in October. I can assure you I'll be headed to the Parkway on my 2010 RT!

As for Nugent, I like some of his music but I got that quote from one of his interviews with some reporter. I certainly agree that a larger percentage of really bad people should be "eliminated" permanently instead of the recycling deal that we have in place. I find the term "repeat offender" quite offensive.

When I head up to the Parkway, I'd be honored to meet you in person.

Now, I don't want to hijack this wonderful thread any longer with talk of guns and such. That's less time for the stunning pics we've all become addicted to.

A good friend of mine is the head maintenance engineer for Mercy Health Systems and was down there 1 hour after Joplin was hit.
He said the structure had been shifted 3-4 inches on its bedplate, pretty amazing that much concrete could be moved that much.
I spent a night in Joplin, exactly a week after the tornado. I got into town late, after dark, and they had the National Guard and State Police out in force, with the damaged areas cordoned off to keep out the fukcing looters.

The next morning, at first light, when they opened the streets up, I took a driving and foot tour.

I've never seen anything like this in my life. I was stunned and speechless at the total, absolute destruction.

And how quiet everything was.

Keep in mind this was seven days after the fact. Much had been cleaned up in that time, streets were passable and the like, but I imagine most of what I witnessed still looked very much like what your friend saw when he got there.

Sad. Incredibly, powerfully sad. I left Joplin feeling very humble and small.

The more I learn about M&P's, the happier I am that I decided to go this way as one of my personal defense platforms.

Please stay safe, and thank you for your service; we appreciate what you do. (And, as an aside, I wish we could permanently deport all Democrats to Chicago...)

Getting paid to ride? Where do I sign up??

I'm not a huge Nuge fan, but I sure agree with his viewpoint on the right to keep and bear arms. I've seen the interview you mention. He doesn't mince any words.

We're cool; this is mine and D's thread, and it's all good. Thanks for the props on the pix; much appreciated. I've got some early-morning Parkway shots from our ride home this past Monday to edit and post-up yet. Fingers crossed there's a keeper or two.

Take care, amigo, and stay safe.

I'd almost be willing to get pulled over by you on your Suzi in exchange for the great photo it'd make!
