Dear KTMers :)
I been thinking about getting myself 690 as my trusty old machine started to get too expensive and bothersome after overall of 130 000 km of hard life. I just can't pull myself to do another rebuild after I messed up freshly rebuilt motor because of my own error. I was hoping for some pointers...perhaps it was discussed before, but I wanted to get opinion from you after so many years/miles of your life with 690. How realistic is to use 690 SM or other 690s as long distance tourer? Top speed is no problem, but it must do good under 140 kmph, do at least 200 km between fillups etc? How bad is seat? Did anyone tried new "ergonomic" seat in 400-500 miles per day ride? How realistic is 2-up if me and wife both quite small? Is there aftermarket crashbars for SM or only for Enduro/SMC and if so - how good they are? Would you trust your 690 to take off for 6000 km tour let say from one side of Europe to let say other side of Norway? I particularly interested in 690 SM to be honest, but may be I am wrong and SMC/Enduro is better choice. |

No idea on SM No problem heading off on a long tour. Been there, done that and heading off again t the beginning of July. If you are looking at the SM, then maybe asking on www.supermotojunkie.com might be a better option.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBF7j...393C8C907D24C5 I use a 9v battery and carb cleaner. Be really careful with the o-rings reinstalling the injector, they tear easily. I ordered a few with the new injector just for that reason.
