I'll have to get some of those shoulder length rubber gloves like the Veterinarians use.

A friend had his 690 stolen last year. He loved it and rode it hard and fast mostly off-road. He bought a EXC 500 this year and likes it WAY better for gravel roading....and likes it WAY more on the single track than his 690. He has a KTM 250 two-smoker that has just sat in his garage since he got the 500.

I love my 450 EXC w/Rekluse for the tight stuff, and doubt I will need another bike for the single track (and Baja....cuz the 690 is too big for me on the Bill Nicholls stuff but the 690 is good for the rest of Baja), but if I did get another dirtbike, it would be the 500.

SG,
Yeah.....that's the ticket

It was really difficult to sell mine, but the 690 is a bit lighter and has slightly better suspension....

Now, back to your regular programming

OTOH I rode a 950SE this weekend and HOLY SHIT that thing is the bomb We were riding on an open sandy oval and some reasonably hairy single-track (nothing too bad) and even with the safari tank it was light on its feet. Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn. I do not need another bike.

Yup. You Violated Roadracer Al's #9 rule for Happy Motorcycling: never ever ride a bike you can't afford to buy or can't fit in your garage.

If you ride it and love it and can't buy it, then you're miserable. Of course there is also the potential problem of damaging an expensive bike that isn't yours.

You can keep the rack, so consider this a freebie! My attempt at riding the 690 up "the geekslide"

I really like those too. I go back and forth between that and a Pirelli Rally. It seems to me that the XCMH lasts longer but doesn't grip quite as well off road.

I've got the XCMH on the back of the 690 right now (will be slick by 900 miles) but I never tried it on the front. The tread pattern of the front looks too similar to a few other fronts that I have run that I did not like. I've got a Pirelli rally front and motoz x-circuit rear on the way.

I think you have a fuel problem, not an electrical problem.

3 things to make a bike run: Fuel, Spark and Air. Seems like you have spark and Air.

I would suggest pulling your injector and turning the bike over to see if you have spray from the injector. If not, move toward the tank. and see if you are getting fuel out of the fuel line when you turn the bike over.

Just start eliminating what the problem "could" be.
