Well, here's something curious...
I had the battery out for over a week.
I just noticed after all this, my odometer has returned to 000000.
I didn't that was supposed to happen on a DOT vehicle.
My RFS bike keep their ODO.
Does the digital speedo on the 2009 have a backup battery?

I had the ODO on my 2009 690r also reset to zero one time when I was installing something electric. Don't remember what, but everything else was fine. I remembered the mileage that was on the bike when it reset so I add that on to my maintenance log. It is NOT supposed to reset!

never seen it myself. even with odo's that are unconnected on the shelf for months already.

Did you leave the contact on and battery out? Or was the contact switched off too?

It does not even use a battery for retaining the odo, it writes it to a sort of flash card. no need for power to remember.

I had it in all sorts of powered up down conditions. Between the tank work and getting the stabilizer pin to not interfere with the the key lock.
Funny thing was the tripmeter was NOT cleared. It still retained It's reading. I must've inadvertently gone thru some clearing sequence.

Just back from OH/UT/OH travels. Thanks for the pic ass kick - motivated enough to order some magura blood - see if I can ride the momentum

Same thing happened to me at 900mi on my 2012. Although I don't believe it was related, the battery turned out to be bad. It was probably a function of how I went about my investigation of the battery problem. Battery was replaced under warranty. Dealer said I could send the speedo unit to KTM and they would reset it to correct mileage. No thanks...

Hey 690 people, I figured i would offer it here first before I throw it in the flea market. I have a 690R instrument cluster, the one without the tach that I'm getting rid of. $90 shipped if anyone is interested. 4000 miles or so on the ODO but I'm pretty sure a dealer can change it for you.

I have a question.

Can you buy an extension of the exhaust header heat shield.

So there are two heat shields on the side of the exhaust, then in front of them, is two rails.
Those two rails are rather hot, they have burnt my leg and melted the side of a couple pairs of pants.
I dont see why the heat shield doesnt cover more of the exhaust.

Cool thanks, although, is that the Akra one? If so, it appears to screw into the Akra exhaust, which I dont have.
Is there another one similar that attaches to the stock header?

Edit: or another option is ceramic coating the header. Has anyone done this? would it reduce heat enough to stop burning things?

Any knowledge about if it will work with a 2008 Enduro? If so, I'll gladly take it.
