Damn, MuffinMan! Excellent info, you got me on all three: I didn't know about the 690 "Wiki", wasn't really familiar with SuperPlush, or the Slaven's video. Looks like pulling the shock is a lot easier than I thought it would be.

The collar on my 2012 is definitely aluminum, so being a good little "690 inmate", off it comes!

Thanks again, very helpful...

The tab to mount the plastic shroud punched a hole right in the radiator. Glad I made it home.
I had that happen I just welded the hole up and have not had any problems since.

Trying to find out which hand guards with the aluminum back bone fit the 690. Is there a KTM part number or is the aftermarket the place I should be looking?

Thank you, Cristophe! I like that the Touratech bars protect the plastics as well as the radiator.

I too have the G-It bash plate. Can you show me where you had to make the notch?
Here's the notch required to fit the G-it bash plate with the TT bars, a 5 minute job with a disk grinder.

I assume these are KTM Hardparts

http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-690-endu...on-76535940000

Still trying to track down a reasonably priced Hardparts dealer in Canada, as KTM won't let US dealers send up our way. I am beginning to realize that KTM and Reasonably Priced may be mutually exclusive in Canada.

Try part number 765359-40000 should give you what you're looking for.

ooopps Kingby beat me to it. $173.99 at a dealer in Ottawa.

Radiator gaurd

If you are planning on mounting the Rally Raid tanks and/or fairing at anytime... I suggest using the Rally Raid radiator guard.

I tried to fit the KTM guard with the Rally Raid fairing and it wouldn't go together.

agree. I just installed EVO 2 kit tanks and fairing and I had to take the KTM radiator guard off, as it doesn't fit. The problem is the tank rather than the fairing, though...

Thanks, I'll check them out ... KTM Canada, in there wisdom, pulled both KTM dealerships in Newfoundland in the past year. There is no way to physically get to a dealer, without a plane or boat ride . Couple that with KTM Canada's agreement with KTM Austria/USA to not allow US dealers to ship to Canada and my choices are both limited and expensive (especially when you have no choice on shipping costs).

I understand KTM Canada protecting their dealer network, but they seam to be able to sabotage their dealers on their own, without my crossboarder shopping help .

Tons of people headed to the rock this summer I'm sure you could get some one to bring one over for you. Check out the Canadian regional forum.
