It's going to be a killer floody headlamp. 300 lumens out of a AA battery.

My Xeno AA XML claims 500 lumens. I have compared it to a 240 lumen light and its def WAY brighter. Not quite the saber than my M1x is but certainly the brightest AA I have ever tried.

Beats the pants off the custom 18650 light I had made running an SST-50 led in most usages.

Maybe, but that's if you run it on a 14500 Li-ion battery. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...IMES-BEAMSHOTS

I do

I run all my light s on li ion. Cheaper in the long run, brighter and no self discharge. It doesn't take many charges to equal out.

Plus as you noted, it's impossible to get big power out of a AA battery. My charger does 18650, 14500 & cr 123 which pretty much takes care of all my battery usage

Just ordered this little light, it's just what I've been looking for, and as a bonus, Battery Junction is giving 8% off on any order on their website, even sale items. "Fallsave" is the coupon code!

Note: I have no affiliation with Battery Junction, I'm just passing along a pretty good little deal!

Now this thread just cost me 60 bucks at battery junction. That discount code worked, thanks!

I'm gonna try one of those. The one I have with the push button switch keeps getting turned on in my pocket and running the batteries down.

OK this thread cost me a few bucks a while ago and now I am back with a question. Can I just use Li ion batteries in place of AA or AAA? Can I stick Li ion batteries in my AA batterycharger? The battery junction website warns against it, but is that just CYA fine print that the lawyers made them include or should I take that seriously?

Thanks.

Uhhhh, NO.

I don't use Li-ions but I know you can't stick them in any light - you have to make sure the light rate for that power. For example 4Sevens Quark 1xAA or 2xAA head is rated for 0.9V - 4.2V. So, a single 14500 Li-ion will kick out 3.7V and even up to 4.2V if just off the charger. One of these cells in the 1xAA body is fine, but two of them in the 2xAA body will fry it. You can run two 14500s in the 2xAA body attached to the Quark 123^2 head, however, it is rated 3-9V. Most of the mid to higher priced lights 1xAA light (say 50$ up) should be rated for 4.2V however.

Pretty sure you need a dedicated Li-ion charger too.
