At 66 if I can cook my own meal I will consider that awesome.

I can barely cook my own meal now. Let alone cycle up a mountain.

I need to start working out.

My Dad is 68

And he too is awesome. Rode his bike across the country (USA) at 67. Dipped the front tire in each ocean.
I hope that at 67 I won't need a diaper.

Your Dad is awesome. As a fan of cycling and the Tour De France I am familiar with that ride. Hard as crap. I applaud his even attempting it.

Having ridden up Ventoux quite a few times I know how awesome that achievement is. (with a motor bike).
Straight out of the plain at not much above sealevel to well over 6200ft
Well done Dad!

Did he approach from Sault, Bedoin or Malucerne? Did he decend too? Even more scary!

Pfffft....pretty good for him, BUT all you young farts don't know what you're talking about. I'm near him in age(ok, 60+ but that's all you getting).
Old ain't what it used to be. The only advice I give you now is to be careful what you do now, because it will have consequences on you IF you make it to our age
You think you're having adventures now? Just wait until the day that you can make it to the restroom and still have a good pee. What an adventure

That's great- you're a good man/son for posting the kudos to him. Be a better son and buy him a motorcycle- no one should have to pedal up that.

Just kidding, of course, I still enjoy pedaling...just not as much as I used to.

That's funny Clampett!

About 10 years ago (Pop died over a year ago, but this was back when he was in his early 80s) my Dad was telling me generally about what was going on with his prostate and explaining what I probably had to look forward to.

He then said "You know, when I was a kid I could piss over the hood of a pickup truck from fender to fender and not get a drop on the truck ....... NOW it takes me 10 minutes to get going, 10 minutes to quit, and I consider myself damn lucky if my shoes are dry afterwards!"

You just NEVER knew what he was going to say.

Happy Fathers Day to you ADV Dads.

He rode up from Bedoin. He said it took a bit under 2.5 hours. I think there might me talk about him and I riding the Blue Ridge Parkway.
