His regular pricing is listed on the website, don't know if we'll get anything special. I tried to put a group buy together over on the NC forum but didn't get much interest. Here's a link: http://nc700-forum.com/forum/nc700-g...heir-seat.html

I'm not in love with the seat, but it isn't high on the list of things to be done to the bike. Got to get some bags on the back first.

I want a custom seat but like Mike, luggage is more important now.

Ditto for me...but I think I saw a motorcycle superstore box in the back of the wife's closet...and with my birthday coming up in 2 weeks, I'm hoping it's the GIVI 46L Trekker!

The most recent issue of Cycle World (November 2012) has a test article on the NC700X. They also have sidebars on the engine & DCT and, of course, editor comments. It's a pretty good issue well worth getting .

Comparing performance with the KLR650:

0 - 60 MPH: '08 KLR = 5.88 sec (MCN 7/2007), NC700X = 4.9 sec
1/4 mile: KLR = 14.4 sec @ 87.08 MPH, NC700X = 13.86 sec @ 94.23 MPH

I was looking 3 and 4 months back in this thread looking for a specific post and it was humorous reading some of the posts by certain people doubting the bike would get the 66-68 mpg USA that Honda was claiming. Most of those folks haven't posted in a while.

What is really mind-blowing is that you have to wade through roughly 800 posts full of spec sheet fueled bloviating and totally unrelated dross before you hear from anybody who had so much as thrown a leg over one.

I was waiting to see that type of data. In Bike back in the spring there was a typo that said the NC700X 0-60 times were over 10 seconds. A friend and I did some informal timing after I read that and I was getting around 5 second 0-60 times but the methodology we were using was very dodgy. Still I knew it was in the 5 second range.

Did you notice the NC700 used in the HJC helmet ad in the same issue?

Sure hope its a typo. My wife's RAV4 will do 0-60 in under 10 seconds. Pretty sure my neighbour's lawn mower will do that as well.

I'm right here, like my sigline? Me and this 700 would be much closer to the tester that got 47 mpg, not the old ladies that get 75 mpg.

I've put 12,000 miles on the Honda CBR250R that is rumored to get 77 mpg and have an average of 58 mpg over that 12,000 miles.

I don't need to ride this 700 to know that I'd be in the upper 40 mpg range. I had really planned on buying the 700x, but I'm actually have fun with the 250 at the moment. and don't really need to buy the 700 just to prove you all wrong.

Are bragging or complaining? I think you should stick with your 250 also.

Neither, just the facts.

Why do you think I should stick to the 250?

You are funny. The only time I've gotten less than 60 something was when I rode it on the slab for an hour, most of that time going faster than your 250 can go. Even then it returned 57 mpg.

Old ladies, he he.

AAAhhhhaaaa, some honesty in this thread!!

Thanks for stepping up. Hope your bro's don't run you out of town now.

That is exactly where I would use the 700, commuting 175 miles per day and it sure as hell won't get 68 mpg.
