In the service you describe, a 175 mile commute you would get close to 70 mpg. Honestly. If the traffic was moving close to 70 you would get mid 70's. I have made several trips over 450 miles now and got no less than 68 in this service. I don't normally ride at 90-100 mph like I did the 57 mpg return. If you do that's another matter and the 700 won't return 68, more like 55 mpg at this speed.

Where were you, Nevada?

I-95. I was minding my own business at 80 when a red late model Mustang passed me. Initially I was just wondering how fast he was going so I caught up out then I let the rabbit run out ahead of me a half mile or so and then just kept him in sight. We got caught up in knots of traffic now and then so it was not a steady 100.

more or less cruising at 70-75mph, all 6th gear, he got 70MPG exactly (US). Not paying attention to fuel consumption around town, shifting around 4000 the worst he had was 63MPG. I'll try to replicate that when he borrows me his bike for a longer ride ASAP, 2up too.

They got 8,5 and 7,5 seconds to 62mph (GPS). I believe I saw 6 seconds for the NC700X in another mag test. I don't think 5 is possible. I tried the Pegaso Strada once (650cc single, 48hp), and it felt faster to 60mph, and mags say it runs around 5,0. It's a 370lbs bike.

I just checked that magazine again, I missed the numbers a bit. 8,4 seconds to 62mph GPS in Drive mode 6,9 seconds to 62mph GPS in Sport mode. That's for the Integra. GPS corrected top speed was 105mph. Indicated 112mph. I believe I saw 115mph factory spec for the NC700S, probably same for X. EDIT: Aprilia SRV850 scooter, 6,3 seconds and 116mph ![]() ![]()

That's awesome. I remember when Honda couldn't give the Hawk 650 away, two or three years old and still in the crate.

My buddy and I rode by the dealership yesterday on our normal Saturday ride to look at these things, he walked out with one and let them take his dualsport away. He loves it. Super smooth, that little trunk in the front is great. I will say though, I think he bumped it off the rev limiter a couple times on the first ride. They are so smooth they just don't sound like they are working. He dumped it down to pass a car and had the "oh s#@t moment" because he imediately went into the limiter so he was out in the suicide lane, and thought his bike had just died, when really he'd just hit the limiter. I read the same thing happened to the Cycle World tester, he kept banging it off the limiter. He finally just stuck it in auto mode and let it shift for him, he said that was much better and stopped him from looking like an idiot. My buddy just got the manual though, so he's just going to have to keep it in mind until he gets used to the sound. You have to shift them like a single cylinder.

I love the hawk (had two ) but wondered how the NC700 directly compares ? Have you tried them both ?
