I hear you on the valves. Valves I can adjust without having to remove the cams and replace shims is a big attraction to me.
Hydraulic valves would have been even better.

At 50 mpg, it's just another standard/light tourer with its own perks/quirks... only slower. The low COG, neat storage compartment, low price, Honda quality, and tremendous fuel mileage are all icing on the cake for me.

I'm actually really enjoying the low revving, smooth, laid back motor. My Bandit 1250 was pretty laid back and relaxed, but this 700 is making me take the long way home from work and unwind a little.

I read that in the US, it is around US$6500-7000, depending on the dealer.
I got mine at the swiss list price 8kchf, but then again I got about 1kchf worth of extravaccessories included.

US$1 = 0.95chf

wheelbase of the 500 is 55.9 inches. How does that compare to the 700? All I have seen so far on the valve train is DOHC, but I thought I saw that it had rocker arms somewhere else. Rocker arms would suggest a single cam and screw and tappet valve adjustment to me, but what do I know? Are you sure this bike has shims under buckets?

If you're refering to the chain recall it's old news.

to any owners

I would be interested to know a couple of facts about this bike. What kind of mpg are owner actually achieving? There is a lot of hype but some real world figure would be interesting. What kind of rpm is the engine turning at "normal" road speeds - 60 or 70 mph? This could just be the bike for me.
