Doesn't look like those panniers could hold much more than a spiral notebook. At 480lbs I'd rather have the Integra Scooter which shares the same motor and looks to have much better weather protection.

Any word on the rumored 250 adventure tourer?

Hey now that's a new segment that Honda could do.

An Adventure Scooter

I was hoping for an announcement at EICMA but it looks like the NS700X and Crosstourer are it.

Although curiously the CRF230L is still the 2009 model on the Honda USA website but the XR650L has been updated to the 2012 model.

Thank you for your concise summary.

LOL +10

I was truly hoping for a more cost effective dark horse in that size adv-tour-pseudoenduro bike. All I can say is, next.

so Two Plugs "has" the official pics for both the cross tour and this 700cc africa twin thread. he's either a Honda employee or best friends w/ one.
no big deal but maybe he might be honest about it.

gee honda went out on a limb with bold new designs for each bike.

since you work for Honda 2 plugs,
did they just design 1 bike and stick 3 engines in it?
the press are gonna rip this apart for lack of originality.
is this just a me too we now have a beak on all our bikes?
i'm sure BMW is laughing.

honda designs great engineered bikes but they need some new designers pronto!

700X

cross runner

cross tourer

Given sweet cars like the CR-Z , I guess we shouldn't be surprised....

However, maybe someone needed to explain that what we wanted was an XR650L with a liquid cooled twin and more modern suspension and brakes.

Or was I the only one?

Seriously Honda had a history of sweet bikes, albeit typically low spec, (other then pure race), but WTF is up now?

Dodged ONE bullet

Hey, at least it doesn't say "Africa Twin" on it anywhere.

It would appear that all you have to do these days to build a "dual-sport" (term used very loosely here) is to raise it an inch and stick on a tiny beak. Then you can add some plastic wannbe bashplate that does nothing to protect oilfilters/coolers/pipes and other vulnerable bits hanging off the bottom of your poor-to-begin-with design. And lets not forget all the agressive front rubber available in a 17.

If the builders had any real balls they would

(A) build it with a real beak....like my DR750 (which had the beak in 89 before BMW)

or

(B) build it with a Dakar inspired fairing like the Aprillia Tuareg concept:

Yes I'll buy one of these if it's HALF this nice.

The "lets follow BMW" styling is chickenshit IMHO

i thought to mention the big dr original beak but thought most would not know suzuki beat bmw to the beak.

i think the overriding theme is honda is building 3 street bikes with adv bike styling.

Guys, don't you get it,

The real ones don't have beaks.

This is not the the 80's anymore.

The beak now screams "Parking Lot adventure"

Disney Cancelled "Wild Hogs II" until the last batch of Beak Bikes were out so they knew what to order.

What is it about your being in sunny Mexico, that's seemingly exacerbated your acid reflux, eakins.
If inmates are supplying up to date photos / information / technical specs etc.,
a simple atta boy should suffice. IMO
