![]() Seriously, I was riding Hondas in the 90s, but these derailed designs are just too much. Somebody must be seriously screwed up to let something like this pass the first prototype stages ... but okay, the world in general and Japanese designers aren't especially known for good taste ... Even better times coming for BMW and Triumph.

These designs are for the hip and happening younger generation. And that last sentence just dates me as well.

That might be it. But I wouldn't have liked it 20 years ago either ... it plain doesn't have proper proportions and contours. Whatever.
So happy that I normally don't have to deal all too much with ugly design in my day to day life.

Seriously I think latest Honda "adventure" bikes like NC700X , Crossrunner and Crosstourer belong to WTF thread down in "Jo Mamma"

Nope - I'm not with Honda. If I was, we wouldn't be wining around here about shattered dreams and dissapointing designs.
If I was with Honda, we would be drooling around an modern state-of-the-art Africa Twin successor. And the pics? Come on. It's 2011 - almost 2012! Pictures of this bike (and the Crosstourer) are widely available everywhere on the Internet... I only did some copy-paste... Signed: The Mole.

There's a new suffix afoot... AR* - and a new marketing strategy to go with it!
Look at the billions of dollars Honda have made off their RR bikes... it's true that race replicas can be taken out to the track or track like environment and will give a glowing performance under the right jockey - but Honda have surmised that the miniscule percentage of their AR* buyers will never put it to the test so why waste the time, effort and dollars pretending they might. So the directive to the design team went something like this: Gee guys... can't you just make it look like an Adventure (read Adventure Replica* - asterisk denotes faux) - forget the performance capability as our target market will only 'venture as far as [insert favourite coffe shop here] We can still sell it for a price reflective of perceived performance... and just pocket the dollars we'd normally invest in engineering and deliverables, as extra profit. |
