Silly boy! it is for his lady friend to learn on.

Though it is a lot of fun going flat out at 40 kph. It would suit anyone who wants to improve their skills, and would good for those short in stature .

KENTBRUCK-PORTLAND NELSON RD. Kentbruck, Lower Glenelg National Park

Effective: 04/01/13 9:45 PM Expiry: 05/01/13 8:30 AM

Incident Information: Department of Sustainability and Environment advise that there is a large fire in the Kentbruck, Lower Glenelg National Park area. This bushfire is out of control, and has burnt 1270 hectares. This message applies to the communities of Portland, Heywood, Dartmoor, Drik Drik, Drumborg, Gorae, Greenwald, Heathmere, Kentbruck, Lyons, Mount Richmond, Nelson, Bolwarra, Gorae West. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads, and has been sighted as far away as Hamilton. The Portland Nelson Rd is closed between Winnap Nelson Rd & Telegraph Rd. Motorists should beware of thick smoke has restricted visibility along the Princes Hwy between Winnap and Drumborg, and drivers are asked to reduce speed accordingly. The Great South West Walk, Cobboboonee National Park and associated campsites are currently closed. What to do: Monitor conditions. Check your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. If time permits, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions. If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health advises people to seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024. Additional Information: For General Bushfire Information Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) on freecall 1800 240 667 or www.cfa.vic.gov.au.

Crap. I've just been across there and back a few times on the weekend to do a SCUBA course in Portland. Scary stuff.

I have been away in the Otways. Does anyone know what happened re: fires . Arson, lightening, or a accidental fire?

Well, there's a big fire, >3000ha, it's still going, u/k cause at this time

Weather conditions are not the best with continual wind changes...
Be a lot of country burnt by the time it's over,
A second fire at Mumbannar too, was spotting from main fire...
