What the Heck was this abandoned building used for?

I took the Baby KLR for a ride the other day....I did about 75 miles 90% dirt. It was a beautiful day. I found this strange old little building. I thought it was an outhouse but it had no vents in the side or roof and the floor was solid...(no poop hole) it was super beefy and thick. The hinge pins were massive... Any thoughts on what this was used for?

I have been guilty of this at times...
A $hithouse that needed a bit of extra insulation!

Its in central Pa....Not a whole lot of mining in the immediate area...It really does look like something that was used to lock up something so a powder room would make sense... They did blasting years and years ago to put in the interstate that is really close to where I saw the building... maybe that had something to do with it.

I'm a former Harrisburg native. I'd say, a bomb shelter!

Powder room is likely correct. The construction is very similar to the WWII munitions storage bunkers around here except at a much smaller scale.

Depending on whats in the walls it could be an ice house. There is a large one 2 counties over that has walls filled with cedar sawdust. It was built by the local ice house to store extra from the winter.

It was the coolest hay barn I ever unloaded in as a kid.

Well, I was going to say where they were planning on holding a "Big Foot" after
they caught one, but the "Werewolf" idea works for me also....

That's really cool. thanks for sharing. I was thinking a holding cell for people for god knows what but a powder room seems most logical. gotta love these discoverys on rides like this.. what did you do when you found out this wasn't an out house?
