The dramatic increase in helmet usage and quality since is a good thing.
As for today's Spandex unitard suits...well not so much!

Look at the spectators they look like they just got out of church!

It was usually on a sunday. I was just the opposite as a kid. My parents always made me go to the early church service, I always wore my full riding gear in protest.

At least Sam didn't change hats when he changed bikes!
Considering your own ride... I'm sure you've seen this.

One of the old Trials books I have has a series of photos demonstrating a particular style. The guy is smoking a cigarette, while riding the section. Nothing against smoking. Just looks funny.

Great pic. I think that is from his book?
Even in recent times...when he changed hats it wasn't necessarily a step in the right direction!

Yeah, that one he has there is pretty "minimalist" to say the least! Not sure how he got away with it but I guess Sammy could ride!
Given the choice I would prefer one that covers the whole bottom half of the machine...but I make do with this one, which is reasonably comprehensive.
If there is too much jagged rock I will ride my Honda!

Looks like he still isn't using much there? I just saw this posted from a bike show in the UK this weekend.
