I did a brief search and couldn't find anything similar...

I guess you could expect it from an everyday commuter, if it was a sports bike you'd need to keep it clean, right?

I agree. Both bike are/were (the GSXR has been sold recently) scrupulously maintained. They are my commuter bikes and need to be 100% reliable.

What, not squirting water on a bike is neglect. Don't think so. Not changing the oil is neglect.
