Instead of slabbing it up the towers road to get to talki you have several options, come up the Ken Logan road which runs right past home, turn left at mT Maclaren grain depot, then across to the kilcummin T junction you can go right there & travel up the coolan road abit & turn left at dooruna & across to talki & avon.
Or left at Kilcummin T junction then right onto golden downs road & up to talki, avon etc.

Looking for some local knowledge....
I have to leave the truck & the cook in Rocky for a week, going to throw the scooter on the back & ride home, what's the most rugged way home through the back way??
Avoiding most tar i can of course!

Dont know about closer to rocky mate,but duaringa up the appis creek road is good,if the mckenzie is low enough.then a quick squirt over the marlbourgh range,left onto clark creek,right onto rolfe creek,straight across the beef road onto warick park road and come out just south of norwich park mine.left on bity for a km,right onto boolbun something rd over the railway line brings you out on cotherstone rd,a right then aleft onto retro new cory rd brings you out just west of lords table. Easy.

Cool thanks charlie, my maps show quite a few bush tracks through the middle there , but they are prob unused & private so might go the way you have suggested!

Yeh mate shoot me a GPS file to kenlogannj2@bigpond.com if it's a gpx file it will run on my phone anyway. I'm thinking i might take the old faithful XR that way i will have a bit over 500k range, that should get me lost in the middle there somewhere!! can you get across the fitzroy at the bridge north west of ridgelands or is it a little low bridge??
