That was my feeling when I rode the Versys, it's a very nice engine that puts a smile on your face. It also lugs down pretty well with a very solid mid-range and nice rev out. I think a 270 crank and just a touch more flywheel weight would make it excellent off-road. I'd also like to have some thing just a bit lighter and "less expensive" than the Euro pair. I don't mean KLR cheap, maybe around $8.5-9k with some decent suspension. It doesn't need to be state of the art motocross, just in this decade technology and fully adjustable.

On one of the "highways" I have around here, I came swinging round an open bend on the Kaboom 640 SM at about 120kph, 30kg of crap in the gearsack, to hit a pothole 3ft wide and over 8" deep caused by heavy rain the night before, no sign of it before then.
The suspension squated enough front and rear to scrape my toe on the tar while over at only 30deg lean. I rekn Kwak are onto a winner.

No need to dream, Suzuki does make something really close. It's called a 1200 Bandit.

They need to maximise revenue from the development of the Z1000 engine, and it's been a while since they had the KLV..

My only real hope is that this lights a fire under Suzuki's ass. Give me a GSXR 1000 powered mad bastard on stilts with a 30 lt tank and i will love you long time.
A Bakker Grizzly for 11 grand. Oh yes. |

Since Honda has its head too far up its own ass and is not bringing the cbf1000 to US, I hope Kawasaki will do better with this "Versys 1000"
I still have to say, damn the CBF1000 has so many things going for it! ![]() -- Mikko

I like it.
I don't like the vibrations of my 650R (same engine as Versys 650), would love an upright bike, loved the ergos of the current Versys but wouldn't buy one with the 2 cyl engine (maybe a V, I much prefer the vibes of a V2..to the buzz of parallel). This will be smooth, quiet and fast, with great ergos. Looks like a perfect bike for me.
