It was a group ride I described where one was killed, another badly injured and all lost bikes and sustained injuries.

BTW, do you know how to comprehend what you read or do you form an idea of what the meaning is and then read a post?

What do you do if there are no sidewalks...besides most places around here with sidewalks require bicycles to use the road. Sidewalks are for...walking, hence the name sidewalk.

We have many riders using the sidewalks on streets where riding is legal but obviously a very bad idea. The police don't bother these guys. I suppose the police have more sense than the 'take the lane' bullies preferring to keep fast and slow traffic separated rather than have the anger, injuries and deaths mixing them would cause.

On the road outside my house you will virtually never see a bicycle, they/we always use the sidewalk even though it is technically illegal. The road had no shoulder and a 4" curb. Way too dangerous to ride in the heavy four lane traffic we have.

A rare moment with no cars.

I find my greatest displeasure in riding a bicycle are the nasty bullies who also ride and who therefore, become associated with me.

My buddy the cop sez I got the plate wrong.

Can't be too many silver Bajas with personalized plates in Warrenton.

So please explain to me how I'm supposed to cruise down a sidewalk at 20mph.

What constitutes 'riding a bike' is evidently open to interpretation.

Dood! You're on a 4-lane road! LOTS of room. That's a super highway compared to roads around here.

...now, if there're other roads that go roughly the same place without dealing with traffic, I'll take those. I don't intentionally go looking for problems, but somehow they sure seem to find me! See the post about the lady in the Baja for example.

You don't go 20 mph. You proceed as conditions permit which means not doing 20 mph in the midst of high speed traffic or among peds.

It's a difficult thing to face but sometimes you can't get your way. The world won't accommodate all your needs. I don't like it either, but that's the way of things.

You're serious aren't you?

I think you and I have completely different ideas of what constitutes 'riding a bike.' You and Grainbelt and El Guero would get along.

Yes, I think living in peace with my fellow citizens more important than having my own way on the roads all the time.
