Lindbergh

Did you do the Lindbergh sections? They were the best!

School & School buses: Since I'm retired, I use the school buses going by to identify if it's a week day or a weekend. Since school is out and the buses arene't running for a couple of months I have no idea what day of the week it is.

Leaving on Wednesday...

Hey guys!!

Just to refresh this thread...

I'll be leaving Montreal on this coming Wednesday!!

My travel plans are taking me through Petawawa the first night, then Sault-Ste-Marie, then on to Grand Forks (North Dakota)... And then, 2 short hops, first one to Regina, then on to the Cool Pool!! Should arrive around supper time next Sunday, the 5th or early on the 6th...

Can't wait to be back home, 'cause home is where the heart is!!

I'll see you soon, and we'll gather up for some rides before the cold settles in...!!

Drop some lines in here!!

Marty

Drive safe and enjoy the trip. How's the K60's holding up?

Amazin so far!! Not as much lean angle as the Pirellis, but those were 80-20... The K60 are 50-50s so they would shine on gravel... I did short stints on gravel and they felt great!! So when these run down, I'll probably replace them by the same tires...

Oh, I almost forgot, they start to wobble at around 180-185... And that's with my steering damper set tight... The rubber itself seems to wobble. I'd say it's a design or compound issue. So if you go fast, be careful!!

River Road

Last week we ( SO and I) ended up at a house music party SW of Elk Point down in the river valley. When checking for directions to the party on Google, I was reminded of a nice road running along the north side of the North Sask River. Today I checked it out with the wee strom. Couldn't see much of the river but the road was fun to ride. I got back into Elk Point and decided I would look around the Birch Hills on the other side of the river. At the St Paul/Two Hills County line I headed west up into the hills, found some small narrow twisty gravel roads with lots of trees lining the roads. The leaves almost formed a canopy over the road in a few places, kind of neat to ride in.

I picked up a Alberta backroads atlas and have been happily hi-lighting every gravel road in I can. That area is on my hit list.

Trunk Road

My son and I left Friday morning to do the Forestry Trunk Road from Edson to Cochrane, just getting home tonight. We had a few showers Saturday afternoon, just enough to settle the dust a bit on the road but nothing worth getting rain gear on for. The road for the most part was in great shape but a couple of construction spots south of Robb. We didn't see any other DS bikes until we hit the pavement by Waiparous.Round trip was around 1600 km ( including visiting my aunt in Edmonton)

On Thursday, just before we left, I picked up a used Vstrom for my son to use on the trip instead of the KLR. It ran great for the whole trip and the stock Trailwing tires did the job but not without a couple of pucker moments for him. Tried to go up to Baseline Lookout but turned around part way up due to babyheads, shale and steep roads. The K60's on my bike worked great!

Had lots of interest from people about what and where we were going when ever we stopped.

High lighting roads

wos, are you high lighting the ones you want to do or the the ones you have done? I've been high lighting the ones I've done and my book is getting pretty much colored in, may have switch to another color for when I repeat roads.

How about this coming Saturday?? The 18th, at 1200hrs?? We could meet at either Timmies or McD's...??

And as for the ride, I'd let someone lead, for a mix of gravel and black top... Wherever!!

I'm in

Saturday sounds good. Either Timmies or McD's works. Do we want to toss some ride ideas out now or wait till the day? Most of the rides I do are primarily north or south of Bonnyville, or down in the Elk Point area. Not sure how far people want to travel. grump
