West Texas / Panhandle BS Thread

Anybody in?

I was wondering if those of us out in West Texas and The Panhandle could start getting together.

I live in San Angelo and it looks like the existing 3 Tejas BS Threads consist mostly of the folks in central and eastern Texas.

I usually ride to Big Bend or New Mexico for a few days and camp, usually alone, since I don't know any riders out this way.

I know there are a few guys up Amarillo / Lubbock way that ride KTM's, because I read a thread when they were getting organized to go to the KTM rally this year.

How bout it?

Hey G-RDR, We head down to Terlingua around mid January and set up shop for a couple of months renting DS's. We will be at the Big Bend Resort at the intersection of Hwys. 170 and 118 so if you can make it down then maybe we can go eat a little dust.

I'm here in Lubbock...

With a little advance notice I could be up for a ride.

Thanks for the invite, I'll keep it in mind. Here's a pic of the resort I stayed in at Big Bend, Jan 2010.

Looks like ~154 miles from San Angelo to Hamilton and RTB-II's this weekend. Might be a good chance to meet other riders.

Very Convincing!

You guys talked me into it!

I registered. Even if I don't go, the $ are going for a good cause. I even paid for the dinner. So if I can't make it, someone else is welcome to my meal.

Schickmeister: If I go, would you want some company riding there?

Now let me tell you a little about this bridge I need to unlo . . . ahhh, errm, ahem . . . pass on to a deserving party. I'm just too old to be able to keep up with all the toll revenues rolling in and I have all the money I'll ever need and I just want to take some time to ride around the country for a couple of years before I kick off and it's up in Noo Yawk where there are millions of idji . . . ahhh, errr, ahem . . . people who have to go over it every day and . . . .

I'll be living full time in El Paso in a few months here. I'm trying to figure out where I belong regionally ... I can throw a rock to New Mexico and I'm a long ass hike to anything in Texas.

I'm assuming winter is the best time to ride Big Bend?

Big Bend Ride

Hey colby cheese,

For an organized ride in BB, check out this link:

http://ridedualsport.com/forum/index.php?topic=1929.0

If you get here soon enough, maybe you can make it. Late Dec to Jan.

When I head to BB or NM on a camp trip, I'll give you a yell.

Welcome to Texas!

Roll The Bones Rally II

OK, I met, and rode with some great people at the RTBR II, but they all seem to live in central or east Texas. Still looking for riders out this way. I guess I'll have to take more trips on the bike and try to meet people on the trail. Hope to see you soon!

I'm about to start mapping some stuff out near you, too for a big raid (From the Red to the Rio). When the scouting looks like something you can hit in an hour or so, I'll message you.

Do you know the dirt east of you very well? Like between you and Brownwood? North/South is what I'm looking for. Maybe even up to Caprock Canyons area?
