At all the televised races i watched this year I really wanted the "pocket rocket" to be at the pointy end, if only because he's Ron's kid.
I do wish him luck on Ten Kate- maybe the combo will get him closer to the front. |

Yeah, sort of like Spies I think. Leon is a top tier racer. Nothing has happened to him other than his results sagged a little. IMO, Marco took over the team on him so it's best he moves on. I like the Ten Kate option! HRC might even get a little more involved in development.

He never seems to have recovered from Donnington. He was looking pretty good for the first win for BMW up till that point and then when Melandri got it, it all went downhill after that.

But then again, I have no clue as to what is really going on with him.

Laguna is a good place for spectators, not to mention traveling motorcyclists. I have my doubts about how nice the new Austin track will be (being a ground-up design for modern F1 is a major impediment to good spectating) but it's not surprising WSBK would be looking at it. |

So it's not just me. Miller is a incredible facility in a shitty location. The layout is virtually flat, the surrounding countryside is a bunch of sheep farms and the soil (incredibly fine and dusty when dry and incredibly thick and gooey when wet) really plays havoc with the machinery after an off-track excursion. I wish Road America had the same kind of $$$ to throw at improvements. A WSBK or MotoGP race there would be epic.

How many hundreds of millions is COTA spending to build its facility? What tiny fraction of that would be required to get Road America up to code?

I'd much rather go to Laguna to see WSBK than MotoGP.

Kawasaki took over Times Sq yesterday and look who I bumped into, fellow Brit, Tom Sykes. Had a long chat with him about his Kawa and last weeks crazy events at Nurburgring. He was a real gentleman

Yessssss. As soon as ALMS and Grand Am announced their merger I knew this would happen. Laguna has limited days for no sound limits, now there's a free one for WSBK.

Dome of my best race action photos are from there. Miller staff and the people of SLC couldn't have been nicer or friendlier. Hotel prices are reasonable and some of the best back drops you could ask for. I love the place and yes I've been to laquna. |
