A couple of people want to personalize the ride a little and see a few other sites which may not be on BigDog's tracks.

hope that answers your question. anyone in your group can go border to border with just the paperback if necessary, although you'll all have a GPS with tracks. on some of those remote roads you don't even need a map, GPS either, just follow a trail of those busted GS final drives, they're laying along the side of the road like bleached bones. |

I don't want to be the mean guy but let's try to stay focused on the planning in this thread....we have many other places to talk smack. So bottom line is get to reading the ride reports, looking at maps, reading your new books, and talk about what you are doing personally and for your bike to prepare for the trip.
I picked up a set of stiffer front springs for the HP, probably not stiff enough, ordered a rear luggage rack, and am looking for some type of wind protection for those long days on the road. I am going to try and get away with my giant loop for luggage but it's going to be tough the way I pack. I will need a new rear shock since I find the air shock down right dangerous so I will need to save a few pennies.I am thinking about a planning session probably the weekend of 12/13 November in La Plata at Panera...what works best as far as time and day for you guys and who thinks they will attend? If you do decide to show up you need to show up prepared and with something to share with the group. This is our trip after all and nobody will care as much as we do!!! |

Panera works for me anytime, either day. Though I would prefer early Saturday. This could be a potential morning start time gauge.

Sunday might be better....might be racing at the Outlaw race at Northern Neck ATV Park. Still waiting on details.
Last year it was an Outlaw Enduro-cross and was mostly trails...This year they have labeled it an Outlaw MX/SX...Need to find out if the race is actually MX based...If so, Saturday at Paneras will be fine...Homey don't do big jumps...on purpose |

I'd like to stay involved with this because at the very least, I plan to ride out there with you all but the 12th/13th is out for me as it's one of the rare weekends that I have to work.
