That's the road to the Alpine Tunnel.

Here's a few from Stony.

No GS, but I could be in for a mileage/pass bagging ride...

I'd be dumb enough to try the pass on a big bike but.....I'd most likely do it the weekend before from Woodland Park or as part of my route connecting the two weekends.

Definitely need to work Frenchy's in as a lunch stop at some point though.

Variety of riding and activities

Hey, the road riding around here is awesome as well. No shortage of great paved roads and spectacular scenery. For the family, there are ATV rentals, shopping, old mines, Animas forks ghost town, hiking and more. Durango is not far and offers a lot (and 2 great microbreweries) as well. This is a great location for ALL riding and ALL attendees.

IN I was all excited about going to 2011 RMAR, but the wife's transplant came first on the list.

I'd be careful on a big bike. We had 4 drops before everyone finally turned around. This one require several large strong men ( and one woman!) plus a jeep with a winch to extract it!

Hi Big John. Please put me down as in for this ride. It will be my first ride out west.
Will my street legal KTM 250 XCFW be appropriate for the area?
Thanks
Jim

Is this a serious question? I ride a Yamaha wr250r and it works fine after being geared a bit lower. Get your jetting figured out for 8000-13000' and go up a few teeth on the rear sprocket.
