here's what was going on when I left for home
 earlier: pretty good turnout  first leg: up into the clouds  stopped for lunch at The Hideout Saloon near Lake Henshaw  between the cold, my gloves and my PS camera, I missed a lot of photo ops. hope to see more in the next few days.

Just got home my self. My belly button got cold. Brisk and windy ! Rumor has it that Spa Fixer fixed the Hot tub and a few are chillen in it .
 I am a wuss and glad to be in my warm bed tonite.

Had a great time with you guys yesterday. BIG thanks to Xcountry rider for taking me in, Renner, and others on the trail for hanging back with a total noob. I just got my motorcycle license about a month ago and this was literally the fifth time on a motorcycle.
It was pure chance that I ended up on this ride. Had no idea this was going on. I was just on a solo apple pie run to Julian when I spotted a gnarly group of KTMs, and BMW GSs. Five minutes earlier or five minutes later and I would have never seen you guys. This was my first time off-road on a bike. It was both terrifying and amazing on the R1150GS. The first mile or so off pavement was the most adrenalin pumping experience in my life. The narrow sandy double track was really challenging and sure enough hit a patch of sand on a tight downhill left turn and the pig took it's first "nap". The guys came back helped me wrestle the bike up and dusted off my ego. I soon got the hang of it. Keep the speed steady, weight on the back wheel, stay in the bottom of the rut, and smoothy accelerate when the bike gets squirrelly. After getting these fundamentals down I started to enjoy the amazing desert scenery. Wish I could have camped with you guys. Nevertheless it was great meeting you guys! |
