Today’s ride home kind of sucked ass, but yesterday and last night were awesome!! Thank you very much Xcountry Rider and bdarling for organizing this ride!

The meet up at the 15 and 76:

People were checking out all the bikes:

The group I was in included bdarling, h8chains, BMW KTM, Dan Diego and me. This is h8chains, BMW KTM and Dan Diego:

Hey Joel, what’s the sign for “Pay Attention” again?

So off we go . . .

And up Nate Harrison Grade (or some other road, I suck at road names):

Our first meet up point:

It got pretty foggy from there:

We rode along a pretty nice gravel road for a while:

And had another meet up:

Then it was off through Grapevine Canyon, the most fun trail of the day. Our fearless leader bdarling who was riding on Anakee’s in the sand!! With Dan Diego behind him:

Grapevine Canyon was really fun:

Even the cactus were giving us the ADV Salute:

Then it was off to camp at Butterfield Ranch:

Had to keep the beer cold!!

Time to BS around the campfire:

Some people went in the hut tub. It was really rough there. Sopascat, Dan Diego, bdarling and spafxr (I think?):

Then back to BS’ing:

Sopascat and I went on a recon of the Peckerwood gathering which was on the other side of the ranch. Horrible karaoke. No pictures were taken.

This morning dawned cold and clear:

Off we went to Julian and home:

The weather started getting ugly and cold:

I had to stop and get a picture of this amazing rainbow:

After that, it started raining and was really cold. My visor fogged up so badly I had to ride with it up. I think I got frostbite on my cheeks. Ok, maybe not but it was damn cold. The hot shower when I got home felt awesome!!

Thanks again everyone for an awesome weekend!!

This was seriously the most fun I have had on two wheels. Great group, great people, great riding!

PicasaWeb has changed, so let's see how these photos work out.

Meeting up at the Sabre Springs Transit Station

Taking a breather at the top of Nate Harrison Grade

Yeti: "Why yes, Dan, this is made from the foreskin of a whale. Thanks for noticing!"

"Citizen: Identify yourself!"

Lunch at The Hideout. I would have to say that we got the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. A+++!

Make what you will of it...

The view from Black Canyon Rd.

My rag-tag bunch of inmates

"Wait, can you get my good side?"

Joel setting up his 4-man bivy

Yeti. Always the gentleman.

Yes, this was later determined to be a bad setup.

The storm was held back by the mountains, giving us an unbelievably beautiful desert morning

Braving the storm from inside Mom's in Wynola

Pie!

Hopefully the preceding text is not just a string of question mark boxes.

When I heard this at camp, I was wishing you were there for us to congratulate. Trust me, if you had been five minutes earlier or later, you still would have run into us. We had 31 riders sprinkled throughout the area. I'm glad you got to hop in a group and test your mettle on Grapevine Canyon.

Almost all of us struggled through the sand, so you weren't alone.

Goodonya!
