Dirty Long Weekend 2011 Navigational Rallye. Skåne (southern) Sweden.

21, 22, 23rd October 2011.

Dirty Long Weekend (since 2005) is an annual 2,5 day navigational rally held in the southern Swedish province's of SKÅNE/BLEKINGE. 730 km's of gravel roads, forest trails all navigated via roadbook (including 130 km of offroad specialtests - motocross/grasstrack/enduro), even night navigation stages! This year we were 30 riders... and we had a blast!

Riders make it to the bivouac on the friday night...

A number of Swedish riders used DLW 2011 to fine tune their preparation (both bike, physique and mind) for TUAREG 2012... there were 10 TUAREG 2012 participants on the DLW this year.

There were a combination of different special tests... grasstrack tests like this one...

Stony enduro trails...

Some sandy/whooped mx track...

Cold early morning starts...

and late nights...

Lot's of different machines...

We sleep in 4 x 12 man swedish army issue military tents (with a wood burning furnace in the center). It was minus five at night.

Though some slept on the ground when they could...

Helmet lights are needed for the night navigation stages.

Everyone carries their own tools, repairs made trackside if needed.

Husabergs seem popular in this part of the world for some reason...?

Some can't contain their excitement...

Some do a better job of it...

Time checks were every 60 - 70 km's or so...

And special tests where the field usually congregated...

Refuels were taken at normal service stations...

And service logistics from the Spinter van an enclosed trailer carried everyone's gear, the camping equipment and food...

I kept track of things on paper...

And all the riders kept themselves in line...

Bright and early sunday morning we took a group shot...

Rode some more tests...

Ended up in a gravel quarry...

And this bloke ended up winning;

Åmme took home the DLW 2011 honorary title with a saddle time of 10 hours 28 minutes and 44 seconds for the 7 special tests conducted over the 2,5 day format...

With a margin of 2 minutes 41 seconds over Matti second place (on left) and another 59 seconds back to Hasse J third (on the right)

These guys will be in Marocco next march, with a dozen other swede's looking to leave their mark on the deserts arount Merzouga again.
