Ted,
I see the top racers w/ 2 drinking tubes sticking out of their jackets. Any idea of what the set up is? Are they using a camelback type device? Are the water reservoirs in the jackets or attached to the body armor? Thanks, Dan

Ted, your reporting is priceless, can't thank you enough, it's as though we were riding along in the truck. Speaking of the truck, I'm wondering what it smells like in there.
I have to imagine that at times it's pretty rank on those 100deg days.. I also remember reading somewhere about a thousand pages ago that you guys were unable to find a decent cup of coffee. Does that mean Robb drank all the good stuff from home already? I'd think that with Niles gone, it would have lasted a little longer. Your description of Robby's camp really brings home how serious that guy is. With a drive like that, it's no wonder he's able to do as well as he does. Many successful people I know are the same way. Not always the most fun people to be around, but they sure get a lot done. Charlie, It's great to have you along for the ride too. So, where does the truck go after the race, back to Europe, or will it end up in SF? Finally, What the hell are we all going to do when this is over, The let down will be harsh I might have to re read all the threads from the beginning again, that should keep me busy for another month or so ![]() ![]()

Robby Gordon
I admire Robby; he's got his own mind for the car (I wish he'd build something 4x4 just for Dakar), drives like crazy and has to compete against the organisers (any American is persona non grata, I reckon; Danny LaPorte was a once slip by them) as well as better resourced teams. He's got the Colin McCrae "nutter" factor you need. Peterhansel is more "slow poison", cool and calculating.
