Last couple of days have been nice, especially for November
Sat met my friend Bear at 9am at Starbucks in Hudson Ohio. Had some overpriced coffee and uploaded the day's route to his Zumo while we sat and caught up. I had planned a nice 320 mile loop into PA, down in WV, and back into S. Ohio and wandering home.
Some kid asked repeatedly if he could sit on my bike. His parents were ok with it.

First break, somewhere near East Liverpool Ohio. Fall leaves have fell :lmao:

Rode out to Kenyon College today to have lunch with my Son, a freshman there. Wonderful roads around Gambier Ohio

Good thread. I've been thinking about picking up an 03-08 SV650 (naked, I don't like full fairings) or a used '09 Gladius before next season. One of my requirements is that the bike must be capable of two-up touring in reasonable comfort for the passenger. Yes, I know that an SV is an odd choice for this, when bigger bikes would be better suited, but I don't want a big bike, and V-stroms are ugly . I want something that I can rip though the twisties, or throw the bags on and do a 3,000 mile trip.

Anyone have any feedback on the pillion-ability of the 2nd gen SV or Gladius? I saw an 03 SV on CL with a Sargent seats front and back that looked fantastic, anyone ever use one of these?

Thanks in advance.

Sargent reported to be ok. Consider Rick Mayer custom - will be made to fit you and your passenger.

Well come on. It's not like I said KLR's were pretty .

I took a Wee Strom out for a demo ride last season and it was great to ride, but styled a bit too much like a brick for my tastes. The new ones are better, but the old ones... Shudder.

I'm actually leaning a bit towards a Gladius as I really like the single seat as opposed to the pillion pad. I think it would make my passenger feel more comfortable with the bike and that counts for a lot. Been weighing the pros and cons of both and I'm at an impasse so comfort will be a deciding factor.

I'll keep that Rick Mayer custom in mind if I do get one. I'm sure the aftermarket support is there as everyone seems to love the SVs.

Here's my SV set up for an upcoming trip through Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee for Thanksgiving. I can't say enough good things about my ROK Straps. Much tighter than bungees, adjustable for a shifting load, and they fit perfectly on the rear luggage lugs/hooks on the SV.

Today Bear rode down to my house at 9am. We had coffee and then did a little 230 mile loop into central Ohio.
Was 34 degrees when we left at 9:30am, reaching 49 degrees, but was sunny. Gerbings kept me toasty warm
going down 77S south of Canton Ohio, Bear on his Busa behind me in the mirror

I really need a dual sport. I keep ending up wandering down roads that are not meant for the SV (or the Busa) We ended up turning around in this section

Stopped in Roscoe Village for lunch at the Lock Keepers. Had a walleye sandwich.

At a rest stop the wiring on one of my sleeves on my Gerbings liner broke (the wire that connects the gloves)
The jacket liner is 6 years old and no doubt Gerbings will replace it. So I cut the plug open, and used a butane torch to do a litte roadside soldering

Works fine. All in all not bad for November 17th. As long as there's no salt on the road there's no reason to sit at home.

I have a 08 naked i'm 5'9" my girlfriend is 5'6'' and my bike does okay for just afternoon rides with breaks but the stock seat sucks and with her on back its that much worse. The passenger pad also is uncomfotable for her after awhile, i love the bike but no way i could see myself 2-uping with it.
