Just got back from the briefing for tomorrow,
I will try and post results early tomorrow morning, The prologue overall was won by an Italian on a wr450, my class (m2- 450 to 600) was won by Ugo Filosa on a husky 511, I got fifth... Tomorrow the real racing starts, I thought today was a bit silly, just two runs of 5kms straight down a beach, it was a bit of a drag race with no navigation (or even turns) ha ha Brodovitch screwed with this post 04-24-2012 at 02:03 PM |

Moving forward
![]() Found a few shots in the drop box this morning. I'm sure glad I signed up for the photo service I don't see much time for taking pics along the way. I have a 0854 start and I'm looking forward to the ride and naving with a RB. This will be my first attempt. Some friendly Austrians gave me tips for the RB install last night. Also thanks to Brodovitch for all the help yesterday with marking said RB. |

Today was brutal. Only 280kms but lots and lots of loose fist sized rocks, many people dnfed,
no results yet but I have a feeling my day went well, no crashes and no errors, managed to pass about 15 bikes, was 9th bike to roll into finish This rally is finally starting to feel like one, heading to riders briefing now, hope to be able to upload some pics later on |

At breakfast now, a few pics from yesterday
![]() ![]() ![]() today is longer but supposedly easier, faster terrain. Yesterday was probably the nastiest special (the 2nd one) in terms of terrain I have ever ridden. At some point I counted 40kms of non-stop, downhill, winding stones and loose rocks. One guy on a 990 shredded a brand new michelin Desert front ![]() off to the bivvy to find out starting time, results came out very late last night as most riders got penalties by not understanding the concept of a target time in the liaison, they would rush in without looking at the time ![]() more tonight hopefully |

I'm out. Broken gear box just 1km into the first special test after a 70km liaison,
I nursed the bike back to the bivvy in 3rd gear, inmate ruckedup is also out after an exhausting 12 hours in the saddle yesterday (plus a flat), I am going to stick around and provide support for my pals, but feeling very grumpy, I guess I got too stoked from my result yesterday and forgot how rallies have a tendency of jumping up and biting you in the ass at any given moment Organization wise, there were some minor problems with a few competitors results, but other than that the race is awesome, my bad luck only strengthens my resolve to give it a go next year again |

That's a shame. How many kilometers on your bike?
On the bright side, you're going to have a lot more time for pictures.
