People dream of results like this

However, West enojoyed more success when, at the Monza round of the 2007 World Supersport Championship, he rode through the field from 18th on the grid to finish 3rd, while substituting for injured compatriot Kevin Curtain on his first visit to the track, on his first race aboard the Yamaha. Then, in the following World Supersport round at the historic Silverstone circuit, West secured victory in a wet race. He repeated this feat again at Misano.[2] He finished the championship in 9th place, despite only contesting three of the thirteen rounds.

He must be doing something right. After all, he's managed to convince someone else to pay him to ride GP bikes for the last 13 years. I wish my riding career was that unsuccessful!

Would still run the risk of a somewhat anemic grid unless you could get a couple more manufacturers in the game.

I still don't see the problem with CRT bikes being that they're slower - they're obviously not in the way on QPs as some argue, since lap records have been broken at an unchanged pace this year. And backmarkers will always be there, I don't think that with this system all bikes lining up will be fast enough to avoid it (honestly I don't think the factories would allow it..).

I guess the weird thing about CRT is having two competitions being run on the same track at the same time. It may actually serve to increase the interest in looking at what happens in places 8-10 or so, but somehow it "feels" wrong..

A cynical person might say that this was Ezpeleta's idea all along, get the factories to agree to fill the grid with other machines.
Then when the Corporate boxes are full of HRC and YMC bigwigs wheel out these relatively slow, fat and ugly bikes and slow the whole sideshow up, make Casey ride around them on his hot lap.
The factories then had to produce customer versions of their prototypes to keep the series from looking like a refugee shelter from WSBK.
Only one thing strikes me, where is the Customer GP13/14 any queue forming for them?
