Great article on the first two days of the season. I do enjoy reading what Krop writes. Thanks!

Spying?

Question for the insiders: Has anyone every heard of one team spying on data from another?

It is my understanding that a certain amount of data is transmitted wirelessly, from the bikes. Is that correct? It seems, if it's in the air, it is possible for someone to get to it.

Even if telemetry data is not wirelessly transmitted, I imagine opportunities for corporate espionage still exist.

FYI, I'm wondering about this, because I'm looking at Crutchlow light up the brake rotors at the end of the front straight in a way that nobody else is. I can only imagine that he's braking later and harder.

Do you guys think a MotoGP media coverage thread would be a good idea? Similar to the Dakar one. There are a lot of cool photos that most of us miss or can't see.

I have a lot of photos from previous years that I remember and I can't find them. They are somewhere in the MotoGP threads from previous years or in the race threads. The problem is that the motogp threads are quite large and it would be very difficult to go trough them page by page. Not to mention frustrating if that photo has been removed from the 3rd party storage websites.

I don't get to always save all the photos on my computer. Either I am really busy or I am browsing from other computers. When I get home I forget about the photo and it gets lost in the thread.

So I'd like a thread to dump all photos and videos found on the internet. We could still post the photos in the race or motogp thread and we would copy them in the media thread.

We could make a thread every year or make one thread for everything motogp with minimum info requirements like posting the year the photo was taken, the photographers names and riders names if they are known. This way we could post vintage stuff along with the new photos.

I vote for one big happy thread with everything motogp in it.

I am also offering to try and keep an index of the thread and put some effort in making it look nice and clean if I have to.

So what do you say?

Intercepting wireless transmissions?
You're kidding right? Who would have ever thought of such a thing!

HAHA! Just kiddin man!

I did enough crypto in the Navy to know there is no such thing as a secure transmission, no matter what the spooks think, so yes, if they want it badly enough they can get it.

As for Crutchlow's brakes glowing more than anyone else,I rekn that's just riding style, like Casey holding onto the front brake a tiny bit longer than anyone else to straighten up first, or Vale trailbraking a tiny bit more than anyone to keep corner speed up, or Croz yanking the front through corners coz that's just how you get a UJM to corner......

.......could also be he's using old crappy street rotors to within an inch of their lives, rather than expensive carbon stuff.

I think it's just because of the night shots in Doha. This is Spies last year there.

You are going to cough up $140 if you want proper coverage with a ton of extra information. Motogp.com is better than ever end worth every penny.

D.

They have the best broadcast team on British Eurosport, though I did have some trouble with the links on mypremium.tv

I managed to get a decent stream off of Justin.tv. British Eurosport for moto 2 and 3. Started to get laggy for GP, so I switched over to Australian coverage. That was good, but a bit pixelated.

I'm going to treat myself to MotoGP.com for the rest of the season after I start my new job. Should have coverage before Jere(th)z.

Damn, that was a great race. Sounds like Nicky has the speed of the Tech 3 boys if he can just get out of the gate a little bit better. Maybe he was being too conservative on his tires early on, but the right side of the rear was torched at the end.

Congrats to Bradl, Crutchlow and Jorge. Pedrobot pulled off a better performance than his practice and qualifying showed.

Fun races in all categories. $140? Worth every penny!
