SLAP Info

I want to take a little bit here and make some points and suggestions for you guys who are going to be at SLAP this year.

There is a real good chance that you will have a good time. SLAP is always fun.

I would HIGHLY suggest that for those of you who have GPS, once you get to White Rock or your camp, WAYPOINT it! If you get lost, or break away from a group, you can always get back using your waypoint. Make a note, send yourself a text, a piece of tape on your GPS, anything to help remind your self to WAYPOINT your base of OPs

Bring your camelbacks! Filled of course

Tubes! if you run tubes! Someone will get a flat!

If you are going to ride to a restaurant, carry a snack at least.

There are a few of these Road Closed signs in the area..

DO NOT breach them! The roads are patrolled and if you get caught, you could suffer a hefty fine and confiscation of your bike! Law enforcement on this matter is S E R I O U S! There is a reason for the signs and closures! really there is!

Please do not join a group that is already into the ride and not let the leader know. This year I hope to use colored tape on helmets to help everyone know what group they are in. It has happened in the past when two different groups meet at an intersection and the easy ride group take off and a member of the easy ride group is now stuck in the knarly single track group on their way to climb Widow Maker! Color tape will help prevent this.

Ride meetings should take place abt 30 min before the ride, please attend these. All it takes is one to mess up a group ride because he missed the important tips and tricks and it makes for a very long and frustrating day.

Let have a fun safe SLAP ride..

Hiya Scotty
We will need 6 or more ride leaders. If you want to lead one have a route picked out and post it in the trax file. We will also need voluteers for cooking and other duties. Anyone wanting to help can pm or email me what they would like to help with. (cooking, getting breakfast set up and clean-up)
Thanks The Toyman

You do good rides Doc. What time are you going to leave in case I can make it. Be glad to ride sweep for you. May not be able to stay the night but I'll be glad to donate the 20 bucks to the cause.

we'd have to leave no later than 9am..that would put us in Lincoln by lunch time and then back at WR no later than 5pm..providing no mechanical issues or "incidents"..

I thought Graduation from the pre-ride meeting would eliminate any possibility of any "incidents".

Students of the pre-ride may listen..but there is always one or two who dont learn anything! I remember once at SLAP someone was hot doggin it and hit a pot hole and wrecked his strom and had to endure an ambulance ride out...fond memories!

It is rumored the Dirty Dog, Farscape, and Celtazon might be there early.

NO way........ Not with my skill level.

I was just a little tired, so I laid down in the shade. Not sure what all the fuss was about.
